Maple Leafs beat Canucks 5-1

(Toronto) Auston Matthews and Wayne Simmonds scored twice each and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-1 on Saturday.

Matthews has hit the mark in seven straight games.

Zach Hyman was the other scorer for the Leafs, who were beaten only once in their last seven games.

Frederik Andersen blocked 27 shots, yielding only to Brock Boeser at the end of the game. Vancouver had a power play.

Mitchell Marner was an accomplice in Toronto’s first three goals. He has provided at least one point in seven straight games.

The Maple Leafs will be at the Bell Center on Wednesday, before hosting the CH next Saturday.

Braden Holtby made 26 saves for the Canucks, who lost their fourth straight game.
