Jordan Spieth takes the lead at Pebble Beach after two rounds

(San Francisco) Jordan Spieth handed in a 67 (under-5) card to give himself a one-shot lead atop the tournament at Pebble Beach on Friday.

Without a win since the British Open in 2017, Spieth had four birdies on his second nine on the Spyglass Hill course.

Spieth showed a cumulative score of minus-12 and he holds a 36-hole lead for the first time since his last win.

Daniel Berger played 66 on the Pebble Beach course and is alone in the second rung, at minus-11. Henrik Norlander signed a 70 and completed the top-3, minus-10.

Patrick Cantlay, who tied a Pebble Beach course record with a 62 on Thursday, struggled to bring in a 73 card. He slipped to tie for fourth with Tom Lewis (69) and Paul Casey (73) .

Nick Taylor is the only Canadian to have played well enough to make the weekend rounds. Thanks to his round of 71, he climbed in 25e position.
