COVID-19 UK exceeds 3 million cases and 80,000 deaths

The United Kingdom, the country most bereaved in Europe by COVID-19, also recorded an additional 1,035 deaths from the disease in 24 hours.

(London) The United Kingdom Saturday reported nearly 60,000 new cases of coronavirus infection, bringing the total number of people who have tested positive since the start of the pandemic to more than three million, against the backdrop of the spread of a more contagious variant of the virus.

The United Kingdom, Europe’s most mourned country by COVID-19, also recorded an additional 1,035 deaths from the disease in 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 80,868 within 28 days of a positive test, according to the Department of Health.
